The Swiss Ceramics Association unites all the various
aspects of ceramics from craft to design to sculpture and installation.
As the only organisation of its kind in Switzerland,
we have supported the creative development of our members
since 1959 in every area of ceramics practice.
We are professional
What makes us special is our professionalism,
be it in the realm of functional
ceramics and handmade, quality tableware, unique vessels
that enrich our everyday life or carry an artistic statement,
public / architectural art, or sculpture and installations.
We organise exhibitions with various concepts, all of which
effectively represent Swiss ceramics at home and abroad. By
our press communications and by awarding prizes, we
support both established and emerging artists who are
setting new boundaries and so making ceramics history.
We document contemporary Swiss ceramics through exhibition
catalogues, a bilingual quarterly information newsletter
"à jour" and yearly magazine "Temperature" and on our
trilingual website.
We foster connections to government departments, cultural
institutions and other organisations in the arts and crafts.
Our activities are supported by the Federal Office of Culture,
Pro Helvetia, Cantonal authorities and private institutions.
We promote exchange and discussion of cultural and professional
issues amongst our members across language barriers
and we network with ceramists both inside and outside
of Switzerland. We are members
of the AIC (Academie International de la Céramique) and
the WCC-Europe (World Craft Council Europe).
We actively promote the presence, perception and recognition of contemporary
Swiss ceramics in the public eye.
We encourage the debate of ceramics in theory and practice.
Our goal is a lively dialogue both among and with our members based on personal contacts.
We provide information
We provide comprehensive information about
the Swiss ceramics scene and profiles of Swiss ceramists on
our website www.swissceramics.ch. Our office will gladly
provide information about membership and our activities.
