Artist's statement - Marie Bornet
I marvel at the qualities of Nature, yet have a strong sense of belonging to these places. My ceramic work echoes some of the refined aesthetics of magnificent landscape whilst capturing the meditative qualities inherent in them.
Connections between my own experience and the natural environment inspire my work as I explore architectural spaces searching for a symbiotic relationship between ceramic components and spaces; where the whole is more than the sum of the parts.

Rêverie, porcelain, size of the wall : 3 x 7.4m
"Rêverie": This abstract landscape is part of a series of site sensitive installation made out of porcelain pieces dancing on walls. Together, they occupy the space forming a strong and dynamic arrangement … looking closely we discover the delicacy and refinement of each piece.
The viewer needs to walk along the work to discover all aspects of this site sensitive installation. Each point of view offers a new image, thanks to the shapes of the individual pieces and the ability of the material to catch the light in different ways.

Dessine-moi une montagne, coloured porcelain, each 11 x 3 x 7cm
"Dessine-moi une montagne" is a body of work composed of 30 wall tiles inspired by the different aspects of rocks - between rigor and refinement.
The shadow casted on the tile draws a mountain range, evolving according to the light of the moment.
